Nevertheless, it was an exciting night and an exciting game. In honor of Hoops for Hope (Breast Cancer Awareness) all the ACC teams playing today sported pink laces in their shoes (the BasketCases are sure it was tripping on those new laces that sent Shay Doron sprawling late in game . . . oh well, it was for a good cause!). We got to hang out with Vicky Bullett before the game . . . what an extraordinary person! VB is back home in West Virginia teaching special ed, middle school and coaching 8th grade basketball. She looks absolutely marvelous! The Heels brought a sizeable and enthusiastic bunch of fans to College Park . . . we would have preferred they'd stayed home, but we do admit that their presence signifies a growing interest in the women's game and a developing rivalry among ACC teams. The Maryland fans --- including the students --- showed up in record numbers and behaved like good fans should . . . loud and loyal! Perhaps it's time to stop writing and let some more pictures do the talking . . .
The largest crowd ever to watch a women's ACC game, and the first sell-out for a women's game at Comcast Center
"Onced I saw the BasketCases blog, I been fixin' to find a Heel fan who can write so mah team can have a blog too."
