It's dissapointing to see Shay went out like this. Still I have faith in this team. The team showed resistance and (some) heart when being down unlike the first game especially Lang and Marissa. We just can't buy a bucket in the second half. Normally who would want to bet on Kristi missing tons of wide open 3s she had yesterday? Our shots just wouldn't fall. While whatever Harding hoisted up just can't miss. She can't be hot like that every time we play them, can she?

The only complain (again) is that Lang didn't get enough touches. Especially when Gay and Bales both had foul troubles, the ball should go to her every time down the stretch.

BTW, I wonder where's Harp? Lang should seriously sit down and tell her she needs her other half back.

1) It didn't help that the officials missed some blatant fouls (both ways)...Marissa Coleman being slammed to the court while trying to make a lay-up. Both games against Duke & the game against UNC have looked remarkably like the 2001 Final Four game when MD lost to Duke after being up by 22 @ the half. I believe someone should find out how to get Dee Kantner fired - she was already fired at the NBA level and it is clear that she isn't cutting it at the NCAA level, either.
2) I just want to add that Marissa & Crystal tried so hard to get us back into the game - it was abundantly clear how hard they each were trying...it is nice to see that effort and that kind of never surrender will.
The ladies deserve to be appreciated for having a good season (4 losses isn't bad, after all) and I, as an alum, am so proud they represent MD.

Thanks for the comments.

BTW, Dee Kantner is the head of officiating for the WNBA, so if you think things are bad at the NCAA level, come check out some Mystics games this summer...

I am a male who really enjoys the Maryland women's basketball games. In fact I became a season-ticket holder this year. I really enjoy your blog and will look forward reading in the future.

I'm going to miss Shay a great deal. She's such a classy person as well as heck of a ballplayer. She's typifies fiery determination, cagy intelligence and joy for the game. Shay is really the backbone and leader of this team.
