On ESPN.com, the BasketCases' favorite sportswriter pal, Mechelle Voepel, weighs in on former Mystics GM Linda Hargrove, the Mystics' Revolving Door, and the insane life of being a Mystics fan.

On Linda . . .

"Hargrove represents the best qualities of Kansas, where small-town people keep their approachable friendliness and concern for others no matter how large the city to which they relocate.

Her genuine kindness is why die-hard Mystics fans such as the BasketCases feel sad about her dismissal … but at the same time, the organization is desperate to find someone who can bring in a sense of sustainable success."
On the revolving door . . .

"If you need a spreadsheet just to keep track of how many head coaches an organization has had in a decade, then your team is going to be known for its absolute commitment to chaos."
On those insane fans . . .

". . . the way things have been done since the Mystics began sure hasn't worked. And I'm really starting to worry about the sanity of my friends, the BasketCases. How much more can these poor folks take?

Oh, wait … they're still living off that Maryland NCAA title in 2006. They'll be OK. But the Mystics need help."
Now go back and read Mechelle's entire article! And yes, for the record, we're OK (except for blushing).

I had just read the article before this latest blog and I was thrilled to see the "shout-out" to two of my favorite bloggers. Good job Ladies.
Now, let's hope our favorite pro team can get the positions filled with the right people, after all these years on suffering we, the fans, deserve a break in the direction of good fortune. Dr Yow did it for The Terps,so why can't Dr. J do it with The Mystics?

Brian Winter is available. Anne Donovan is available. I hope both of theese individuals are under consideration for GM. Although I know that there were plenty of Storm fans that weren't fans of Anne, she is credited with assembling the personnel for the Olympic team. Those skills will be useful the year we've got at least a 6 and 9 pick in the draft.

Actually, AD did not pick the players for the Olympic Team. A committee of several people make the picks. I beleive the coaches have some input, but the final decision rests in the committee's hands.
OT: Dr. J was on Comcast Sportsrise this morning, in support of the Washington Freedom. She stated that the business side for the Mystics is now in place and she now wants to put a winning product on the floor. She stated and I quote " everyone is up for grabs". I just hope as other teams are grabing we grab back harder. It's stacking up to possibly be an interesting offseason for The Mystics. At least I hope so.

Give Pokey Chatman the job. She's done her time in Siberia. She's proven that can coach a team to success.

Another vote for Pokey Chatman!! If she'd ever consider coming here! I'm starting to think Washington is the Bermuda Triangle of sports! At least with the WNBA! (And maybe major league baseball!)
