Marissa Coleman:“Now I can talk some trash [with Kristi] ’cause everyone knows that I’m drafted ahead of her.”

That's definitely the fun side of Marissa Coleman that Terps' fans have come to know and love. You can find that one-liner and more in the must-read diary posted on WNBA.com here by Neil Johnson, the (really lucky) WNBA staffer assigned as Marissa's escort to help Marissa get to all of the draft-related "events and obligations" in New York and New Jersey on Tuesday and Wednesday. Neil was very impressed by Marissa's ability to handle the media, seemingly attributing it to the little bit of "media training" the WNBA gave the draft prospects a few hours before the draft. However, the BasketCases suspect that four years of having had cameras and microphones trained on her for Under the Shell significantly contributed to the poise that Marissa showed on Wednesday.

Marissa will be putting more of her people skills to use this Tuesday evening, when the Mystics host a post-draft party for fans. Details are on the Mystics' web site. Be sure to RSVP!

I will be there. This break between the college and pro seasons forces me to get somewhat of a life other than women's basketball so, I'm heading to the fitness center and get this old body in shape for the summer. LOL

Can someone tell me what is going on with the Terps? Rumors are circulating about two more transfers (on top of Mingo's announced transfer)....

I read Stricklin is at it again and maybe Kizer? Hope this is all false. Anyone know anything?

I have heard no on Kizer (please be true), but all sources say yes on Strickland (sheesh, why?)....

A little background on Strickland- transferred HS 3 times in 4 years and played for about 4 different AAU teams in 4 years. This is what she does. Sit next to her folks at a game- they try to coach her from the stands and they think she's better than KT and MC! It is a crazy scene. I feel sorry for her.

Wow, I feel really bad for Strickland. I wish she'd put her foot down to her parents and tell them to back off. If she wants to get a business degree, there are FEW programs in the top 25 that offer the same advantages and opportunities (not to mention connections within the alumni community). I wish her well (and pray she doesn't take Kizer with her) and I do wish that she and Lynetta would stay and be part of the next wave of great Terps.
