Oh, This is Terrible News!
The BasketCases have received an unconfirmed (but reliable) report that the Terps' 2009-10 season has been cancelled! Why? Apparently, with the exception of Lynetta Kizer and Emery Wallace, the entire roster of the Maryland women's basketball team has decided to play Beach Volleyball!

While many of us were already looking forward to the arrival of the Fab Five (incoming freshmen) for the 2010-11 season, nevertheless we were even more excited about the soon-to-begin 2009-10 season.
But now this! No players, no team, no season! We don't know about you, but the BasketCases -- as much as we like Beach Volleyball -- are absolutely devastated about this latest development. We are soooo depressed.

Why aren't Lynetta & Emery playing?
She's allergic to sand.
How do the BC's think the Terps will do this year? The loss of Strickland and Miles is tough. BC--what is your opinion?
Actually, from what we've been told, it's not a sand allergy.
We heard that when her teammates explained to her that the official competition uniform for beach volleyball is a teeny red and black bikini, Lynetta decided that she actually preferred basketball after all.
And as for Emery, the same knee problems that are keeping her off the hardwood unfortunately are also keeping her out of the sandbox.

The Terps are going to be fantastic at the end of the year (i.e., when it counts). Don't sleep on the Terps!
