Blue Sky.

I was blue, just as blue as I could be
Every day was a cloudy day for me
Then good luck came a-knocking at my door

Skies were gray but they're not gray anymore
Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see*

The Mystics traveled this morning from Houston to Chicago to face the only team in today's WNBA schedule not playing a back-to-back. But the road-tested Mystics, not the home-rested Sky, were the team that played with the most energy, coming away with their 3rd win of the season and finally beating a team other than Phoenix.

The Mystics took a slim lead at the end of the first quarter tonight and added to it as the game progressed, winning 99-86. Interim Head Coach Tree Rollins obviously read the BasketCases' last post, and started Monique Currie, who had 14 points. In fact, all five of the Mystics' starters finished in double figures, as the Mystics shot a superb 58% from the field.

With tonight's victory, the Mystics have finally matched the number of wins in their inaugural season -- three. We have to confess that we'd been worried that they might not get there. So our enjoyment in seeing the team win tonight was also mixed with a great deal of relief.

The last stop for the Mystics on the current road trip is Uncasville, Connecticut, where they face the Sun on Tuesday. Perhaps their success against teams with meteorological or astronomical connections will continue. We certainly hope so.

*With apologies to Irving Berlin

I think Nakia's starting to play more like a beast, don't you think?

Great game - fun to watch with all of the "heart-stopping until they're caught" passes. What's with all the fancy dribbling though . . . ? Teasley showed up tonight, though she still seemed a bit hampered. Maybe the ankle is still bothering her?

3 games in a row that DMJ has scored over 20 points.

That's the real Mystics!

Two out of three and three of their last five. Could our beloved "Stars & Stripes" be turning the corner here?

Let's hope the BC's are right about beating the SUN. Though, if the Mystics follow their other (new) trend of losing after a big win and then winning the next game, it would be very satisfying to beat Detroit on Friday. Better to win both!
Nakia kept up with Chasity's numbers and almost had another double-double. She's moving up the list of top rebounders. However, her 5 personal fouls helped to keep her at second on the personal fouls per game list. Not a top ten list to be coveted. Where did HER FT (3 of 8) shooting go?
Nice to see Delisha putting up the points consistently. Is Laurie touching the ball in her brief appearances? The last 2 games have nothing but minutes for her in the box score.
Like the BCs said after the 106 point win (and now 99 points), bring some of that offense home to the Phone Booth.

Nakia also is showing a nasty streak that I like. She's more assertive out there and even has a little scowl on her face when she plays. We desperately need that intensity more consistently.
