Congratulations to Terp Seniors Anjale Barrett and Lynetta Kizer, both of whom were selected today in the 2012 WNBA draft!
The BCs were definitely expecting one Maryland player to be heading off to a WNBA training camp this summer . . . but two? That's a bonus . . . what a pleasant surprise!
This afternoon, Anjale was selected with the 26th overall pick by the Washington Mystics -- a team notoriously in need of depth at the point guard position.
Minutes later, the Tulsa Shock used the 29th overall pick on Netta. The Shock is a team that could certainly benefit from some help in the post. So, while it's far from home, Tulsa could be a good opportunity for Netta.
With WNBA rosters capped at 11 players, it's tough to make a team these days, but both Anjale and Netta have each been given a real chance to make one. Let's hope they do!
Congratulations and good luck, Anjale and Netta! You were drafted by the WNBA . . . now that's cool!
