Congratulations to Terp Seniors Anjale Barrett and Lynetta Kizer, both of whom were selected today in the 2012 WNBA draft!

The BCs were definitely expecting one Maryland player to be heading off to a WNBA training camp this summer . . . but two? That's a bonus . . . what a pleasant surprise!

This afternoon, Anjale was selected with the 26th overall pick by the Washington Mystics -- a team notoriously in need of depth at the point guard position.

Minutes later, the Tulsa Shock used the 29th overall pick on Netta. The Shock is a team that could certainly benefit from some help in the post. So, while it's far from home, Tulsa could be a good opportunity for Netta.

With WNBA rosters capped at 11 players, it's tough to make a team these days, but both Anjale and Netta have each been given a real chance to make one. Let's hope they do!

Congratulations and good luck, Anjale and Netta! You were drafted by the WNBA . . . now that's cool!

A Letter to Fans From Coach B

To Our Incredible Fans,

On behalf of our entire team, a huge “THANK YOU” for your terrific support all season long. We’ll be hanging a new banner in Comcast Center next season and you’re a big reason why. I can think of several moments, on the road and at home, where your energy gave our team a boost and helped us win games. It means so much when we look up into the stands and see that sea of red.

Whether we’re home or away, always know that we realize traveling to games means you spending your own time and money. We completely appreciate that and are glad that you were able to be a part of some amazing, memorable moments this past season. Some of those memories we’ll never forget include amazing rallies, wins on the road, an ACC Tournament Championship and multiple wins in the NCAA Tournament that had us back in the Elite 8 for the fourth time in seven seasons.

I remember a few years ago, when I wrote to you after a season in which we missed the NCAA Tournament, that our staff was working hard on the recruiting trail to replenish our roster with the right people. Now you’ve seen the pay off from that time pursuing prospects. And we’re not resting on any of this season’s success. The day after we got home from the NCAA Tournament, we were already back at it, trying to find the best fits.

We look forward to seeing many of you at our off-season events, including our season ending banquet (April 27) and our mini-golf fundraiser (May 5). Information on both events is available on the official website of the team behind the team, “the Rebounders” at umrebounders.com. Also, please try to support the sponsors of these events.

I’ve been here at Maryland for 10 years now and feel like we’ve seen it all together. This truly is my dream job in so many ways. Thanks so much for sticking with us through thick and thin. Your support helps make Maryland a special place to play and coach this game we all love so much. Have a great off-season and thanks again for all of your continued support.

Best Regards,

Brenda and Family
