FIBA World Championship to Start. The FIBA World Championship starts in Brazil this Tuesday, Sept. 12. They are literally counting down the time on the official web site, which thankfully for the language-impaired is available in English as well as Portuguese. Team USA will play its first game on opening day, against China, at 6:45 P.M. EDT. As we have mentioned before, the USA's games will be broadcast live on NBA-TV. (And you did take our advice earlier this summer to sign up for NBA-TV, didn't you?) The USA plays Nigeria on Wed., Sept. 13, also at 6:45 P.M. EDT, followed by a Thursday match-up against Russia at 4:30 P.M. EDT. (Surely that's sufficient reason to leave work early, isn't it?) The schedule can be found here.
