We're Number One! Congratulations to the Terps, who have now been ranked number one in both the coaches' poll and the writers' poll. This is the first time that Maryland has ever been ranked number one in the pre-season. Indeed, despite the fact that the Terps wound up winning the Natty, they were never ranked number one at any time last season!! The pre-season ranking is not a surprise (well, okay, perhaps it is to those few folks who must have been holed up in Antarctica or on Pluto last April --- and keep ranking Carolina ahead of Maryland), but it's wonderful nonetheless!!! According to Maryland's web site, "This is the first time in the last 10 years that someone other than Connecticut, Tennessee or Duke has led the preseason poll. "
