Overtime Is STILL Our Time!!!!

If you care enough about basketball to be reading this blog, then you were either in Greensboro for the ACC Championship Game today between Maryland and Duke, or you watched it live on TV . . . in any event, by now you already know that the Terps defeated Duke in overtime (sound familiar?), 92-89, and are now the 2009 ACC CHAMPIONS!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TERPS!!!!

In three tough, exhausting, nail-biter games in as many days, everyone on the Maryland roster showed why she is a W-I-N-N-E-R. The games against the Tar Heels and the Blue Devils had the intensity of a Final Four. It's hard to win three days in a row, harder still when you are playing three Carolina teams IN Carolina. Greensboro may not be Durham or Chapel Hill, but it's still the Heart of Blueness and hardly a neutral court. Nevertheless, the Red & Ready Terps brought home the trophy!

Today's championship was a fitting ending to the ACC careers of Kristi Toliver and Marissa Coleman. Though they both have a National Championship on their their resumes, now they also have the two things that have eluded them for the past three years: the ACC Regular Season Title (which they share with FSU), and, as of today, the ACC Tournament Championship! Both players' numbers are already in the rafters at Comcast, yet this pair continues to amaze us. And the young 'uns on the Terps roster are also pretty amazing . . . without major contributions from generation next, Maryland would not be ACC Champions!

We have plenty more reflections about the seniors, the youngsters -- and more -- from our four days at the ACC Tourney (plus plenty more photos we'd love to share!). But as elated as we are, a five hour drive home is still a five hour drive home. And though many of you may not believe this, we actually do work for a living, and tomorrow is the dreaded Monday following that lose-an-hour time change. Ugh. So enough blogging for tonight. Please check back with us this week for more (fun stuff) from Greensboro!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW ACC CHAMPS!!!!

I'm too wired to go to sleep!! I actually drove the speed limit (or close to) on the way home and I still got home in reasonable time. But my voice is gone and the adrenaline has not dissipated yet. What an awesome tournament and what a special, special win. Our girls truly rock. I'm busting out all over with pride. I look forward to hearing more of your comments and observations. Congrats Terps!!! ACC CHAMPS!!!! Love, Leadfoot. :)

Fully doubt I will get much work done today--have updated the bulletin board outside my office with the Diamondback cover (anybody want me to get hard copies for you?) and the Champions pix. And had one of my MALE coworkers comment on how many new fans the girls picked up this weekend! What a fabulous weekend--and who cares if I have no voice? WOOHOO!!! wonder if campus is doing anything to celebrate?

What a great team we have! It is much more fun to watch the ladies playing than watch the mean's basketball team!

BTW, looks like since we won, nobody wants to say anything about the officiating of the game. How HORRIBLE is that!
