You Don't Want to Know.

Trust us. You really don't want to know.

The BasketCases spent the $5.95 to watch the live webcast of Maryland's game tonight at NC State. It may have been the worst game we've ever seen the Terps play. So, really, you don't want to know how bad this game was.

But if, despite our warning, you still do want to know, the box score is here and the Washington Post story is here.

Oh, it's going to be a long ACC season. My-oh-my hold on to your hats, Terp fans.

just as I had feared. Not just a loss but a beating. Brutal game to watch. I hope there isn't a repeat Monday night on national television.

I fear it's going to be a long, brutal season for the Lady Terps! Maybe Marah Strickland and Drey Mingo knew this to be the case when they transferred from Maryland. Learn from this setback, move forward, and hope the 2010 class is as good as advertised.

Dear Anonymous,

We see it the other way around. If Marah and also Dee Liles were on the team now, we'd be returning three starters -- that would make this a very different and more experienced team.

We very much doubt that Marah left because she had some sort of premonition about this season. Quite the contrary, we think her departure contributed in a big way to what we are seeing now.

Along with the story on the Lady Terps game on the back page of the today's Post sports section were articles on the Georgetown and George Mason women's teams. Don't remember seeing that before. The young Terps are learning and growing. And often it will be painful, but just as we've been up and down before, so shall we be again!

I agree, with Marah, Mingo (didn't get alot of minutes but she still has more experience than Tianna Hawkins), and obviously Liles, totally different team. I don't think they would be great but good. Good meaning losing more than usual but not getting a beat down from NC State. Also, don't forget about Kat Lyons. She was a good 3 point shooter. That 06 class not great because 3 out of the 5 transferred and then add Liles. No surprise this team is in the shape it's in. I just hope those 5 freshman next year are as good as advertised and can learn quickly. I am still surprised we aren't getting more from Kizer though. Disappointing so far to me this season. She should be a beast.

the class that included marah strickland, drey mingo, kat lyons, anjale barret and kim rodgers was considered to be the top class in the country at the time.
Maryland has no juniors.

I don't think I can watch much this season. It's one thing to lose but still be competitive. It's another thing to get creamed. Maybe towards mid season, I will watch again and hope they are at least competitive.

It was indeed painful last night. We have truly been spoiled the last few years and it's a harsh wake up call to have to witness what we saw. However, it is a young team and look at the trouble Tenn had last year with a young team that comprised some of the most talented young ladies in the recruiting class. I have faith in Coach B that she'll turn this team around. If not this year, then in a year or two. I'm hanging in there. I just love watching Terps ball no matter what and these youngsters deserve our support. :)

Sounds like there is trouble in Terpville! Your point guard shoots 4-14 in the game and your best shooter gets 5 shots. Your McDonalds All American is giving you little production so you go to a post that has played limited minutes this year in Yemi. I believe once healthy everyone is healthy, the most productive lineup will be Anjale at the point, Kim at the two, T-Hawk at the three with Diandra and Kizer. Come off the bench with Taylor, Lori and flip for your post.

Dara Taylor should not take 14 shots.
In the games where she is most succesful, she takes under 5 shots and has about 10 assists. Dara Taylor is not Kristi Toliver shooting percentage wise. She needs to either drive or pass.

Kizer only took 3 shots I think. That's crazy. do they not know how to get her the ball? We have been blessed for many years with good teams. This is a rebuilding year. Its won't be pretty but I hope they learn and help the fresh 5 next year. Looks like no one is even close to Connecticut anyway and that includes the Dukies and the Tarheels.

It appears to me that everyone is focusing in on next year's class and making excuses for this year's team..labeling this year as a rebuilding year. These players were recruited for one reason or another. I believe if they start playing to their strengths and playing together, then they will be fine. Otherwise, it will be a difficult year for all. I'm not quite sure of the philosphy offensive. The point guard is shooting entirely too much. Anjale is a more traditional point guard that can lead this team, Lori and Kim are scorers, Hawkins and Diandra are solid post that compliment Kizer. Yemi should be used to simply rebound, block shots and put backs offensively, nothing else. If this happens, I think they can be successful this year.
