Due to circumstances entirely outside within our control, the BasketCases were unable to see the Mystics' game against New York tonight. Having checked the score along the way, and a bit of the play by play (including the Libs' 20-6 run to end the first half up by 14), perhaps it was for the best.

We are glad that Lindsey was well enough to start, and that Jacinta was finally back in action. Other than that (with the caveat that we did not see the game), it's hard to find the bright spots. Final score: New York 85, Mystics 77. Box score here. AP story here. More here. And from the perspective of a New York fan who was actually there, even more here.

Well, I resisted turning off the game when they were 23 points down, and I'm mostly glad I stuck it out. A great attempted comeback, but about 2 quarters too late.

Great job by Ajavon & Currie, but overall - wow - that was truly painful.

I didn't watch but saw the score a few moments ago. How did Lindsey look/play? Doesn't look like anybody did much besides Mo and Matee. Oh well, on to the next. The games against Con are crucial. Could come down to them and us for the last playoff spot.

I think when she was in she actually looked pretty good. She was moving around ok from what we could see (live access was like radio with still pictures for quite a bit of the 1st 1/2). But with Katie in a mask and seemingly with both of them on the bench for much of the game, I think they were both sorely missed.

Currie played tough throughout. The announcer said Katie had problems with her nose. I remember Smith played with gauze up one nostril a few games ago. Lyndsey moved well from our vantage point, running backwards and speedy as ever. Nice to see Jacinta in action again.

One big problem was Lang - she only scored 4 pts. It was the first truly bad game I think she's had this year. Maybe her ankle injury is worse?

The starters were ok in the first quarter but they couldn't contend with the Liberty blitz in the second. The bench plus Mo played great in the last 5 minutes to whittle the margin down to 7, but the game was too far gone by that point.

I hope the Styx take their vitamins and get some rest over the next 48 hours because Connecticut is going to be tough; they've lost a lot of games by not very many points and they're hungry.

I loved how the commentators kept saying that no wonder the liberty was losing that big lead, they had their bench in, not realizing/caring that it was the Mystics bench (mainly) cutting the lead down.

Against Atlanta, Katie seemed to get knocked really hard in the nose during a foul. And she has been getting a lot of hits to the face recently. Hopefully she's ok.

Didn't realize Lang only had 4.

Time to really step it up against the sun on Sunday!!

Yes, the big lead by Liberty was painful to watch. But our bench is amazing. That will pay off big time in the playoffs. This team truly never gives up.

I didn't have trouble with the screen freezing in live access, but I sure wish the camera would focus on the shot, not the player's face, during free throws. I also got tired of the Liberty replays while play had begun.

What happened in the 2nd quarter? Seems like they were very hot from the 3 point line. ? I didn't watch.

In the second qtr they missed a lot of shots and there energy was way down. NY just out hustled them. What is wrong with Kia? Looks like she regressed about 2 yrs. Fouling and missing easy shots. Pick it up Kia!!

It might have been because the commentator kept calling her "Stanford." I wonder if being benched is creating more problems?
