If Tonight's Game had ended after 30 minutes, the Mystics would not have lost to the Fever, 68-57. That's because Washington's young team led (or tied) conference-leading Indiana until the 31st minute of this evening's contest at Conseco.

But the Mystics' tougher-than-expected early performance -- still without Lang, Alana or Mo -- was undone by a final quarter in which they had as many turnovers as points scored (7).

Two Mystics finished in double figures: Nicky led her team with 12 points (plus 6 boards), and Marissa fell just short of a double-double, ending the evening with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Rookie Victoria Dunlap (again starting in place of Lang) chipped in 8 points and 8 boards (plus 3 steals, 3 blocks and 2 assists!)

A good effort, but still another "L" in the standings. The Mystics are now 2-8 for the season. Next up: a lunch-time game in Seattle on Tuesday (3PM EDT).

Bad sign for the Mystics when all the comments are about soccer....Still great win for USA!

Not a bad sign for the Mystics who were not on TV. But it was last night and the soccer game was today and if they win the next game, they are in the finals of the World Cup. They won fittingly on the 12 anniversary of Brandy Chastain's penalty kick. Great Soccer game and it deserves all of the comments that we can give. It just goes to show that we can root for many teams in many sports.

I love to see women's sports catching the hearts of the nation--just shows that women's sports can be just as exciting. (as long as you aren't watching the Tulsa Shock--our Mystics aren't that bad)

Tulsa (and LA, for that matter) may just turn things around now that Richardson is finally out.

One question for you "old-timers."
What was the worst loss that the Mystics have had?

The worst loss to me was losing Angela Taylor as GM.

Out of all the losses (and there have been plenty as you all know). The worst, most devasting loss to me was game number one of the playoffs last year.

that's a tough one. The playoff loss last year, game 1 was fairly shocking. But losting Taylor has to be the biggest loss for me overall. I finally had so much hope for the franchise.

Have to agree. Angela Taylor did bring great hope for many Mystics fans,so a great loss indeed. She was given only two seasons out of the "five year plan" Sheila came up with. What a shame.

I have to agree with everyone. Losing Angela Taylor was devastating. I wonder where we would be if she was still around.

If Angela Taylor was still the GM, we would have a core group of players (Smith, Harding, Lang, Beard, and Currie)and would be a contender in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately, 3 of the core are hurt and the other two are gone.

It just show you that one decision will ruin a team. :(

We definitely need to get Angela Taylor back, if she can keep players from getting hurt and players from wanting to move to other teams.

Wouldn't life be great if we all got our ways all the time.

Well, maybe now that we have a corporate partner they'll put some pressure on Sheila Johnson to get the team back on track. It's no longer just her money--Inova has its logo all over a losing team--but a team with great potential that just isn't managed well.

I haven't seen Sheila Johnson or Ted L at any game, we just got a corporate sponsor, but it seems like no one cares about the team. how can their morale be good if they don't see the owners caring. No give-away games - nothing tossed to the fans during the games - is this Ted's way of folding this team? If so - that's a real shame.

Sheila has been to some games. Don't know about Ted but I know Sheila has.

I saw Ted at the first home game; he came late and didn't stay for its entirety, but he made an appearance.

Sheila sits in her booth in section 101. Seen her there at least four times. We try to catch her eye when we walk by but she never looks forward. She could at least smile and wave to the fans. What has she got to be ashamed of? Saw Ted maybe two times but didn't stay long that we could tell. They should be there to support those players!
