It Had To Be Hard for the Mystics to put last night's loss behind them. It had to be even harder to have to play the 2nd half of a back-to-back . . . about 21 hours after that devastating defeat. And to make matters worse, the Mystics had to travel from Washington to Indianapolis the day of the game.

Is it any surprise that the Mystics came out flat? No, at least not to the BCs. A 14-2 Indy run to open the game? No, not surprising either. Overall, a pretty bad performance by Washington (on the road) against the conference-leading Fever . . . ending with another loss, 83-51. Nope, nothing surprising about that.

About the only thing that did surprise us (although by now, this late in the season, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised) is why the Mystics' first-round draft pick, Victoria Dunlap, played only 4 minutes in what was obviously going to be an Indy blow-out. Is she not in GM/Coach Trudi's plans for next season? Because if she is, this seems a strange way to develop young talent.

Anyway, all in all a very tough weekend for Lang, Matee, DeMya (whose daughter starts kindergarten tomorrow!) and all the Mystics players (and their fans).

Assuming the Mystics fly back tonight, the good news is that they will have one whole day at home before they face the (struggling) LA Sparks on Tuesday at the Phone Booth. Travel safely.

Is Dunlap hurt? Just curious because she only played 4 minutes in a 30 point blowout. Would have been nice to give Lang some rest since they play again on Tuesday night. Would be nice to get her some playing time to see how she does. I don't get it. Why did they draft her and then keep her just to hang on the bench all season. Is she that bad?

Dunlap played really well when Lang was hurt earlier in the season. Absolutely no reason not to play her tonight in Indy. What the heck is Trudi Lacey thinking?

I follow Matee on Twitter and earlier today she said she had a major toothache. I thought the left side of her face looked swollen tonight. She needs to get that tooth tended to, and fast!

Lang has to be tired. So much is on her shoulders with this team. We just don't have enough scorers. Just Mattee and Lang. It's just not enough.

Also 1 of the refs from the Sat game was reffing this game. At least it wasn't the one that made that questionable call.

I watched the Indy game on NBA TV and at the end of the game I could see the Indiana coach telling Trudi that "you got robbed last night." (Not that a WNBA coach would critize the refs!) Never mind - my lip reading skills might not be that good. :)
But I do love Coach Dunn!

She was probably just telling her to hang in there...

To Anonymous 4:02pm I thought I was imaging that. I also saw it and I thought that was what she said.

Will we win another game is the question? I've been thinking about Sheila Johnson's "coaching is a crapshoot" comment. It's not really a "crapshoot" when you hire a coach that has such a horrible win to losses ratio. It really wasn't a crapshoot at all. We were doomed from the start. I feel like Sheila Johnson must not respect the game of basketball with such an ignorant comment. Clearly she doesn't respect the game or she has absolutely no understanding of basketball at all.

As for tonight, same old same old... Langhorne and Mattee both have to score over 20 for this team to have any chance of winning.

and your a 5-twenty something team and your number 1 pick still gets no minutes. I mean at this point, clearly we aren't making the playoffs. So play her for goodness sakes. Find out whether or not she is a good fit for your team next year.

Just saw the Washington Post story disclosing Pat Summitt's Alzheimers.
Tragic.
