Winning on Sunday!!!

The only thing better than playing on Sunday is . . . WINNING on Sunday. And the Terps did that today, defeating Georgia Tech, 68-65, in an exciting, tense, down-to-the-final-buzzer Championship game in Greensboro!

Today's win was not only the Terps' second ACC Championship in four seasons, but also the tenth in school history . . . a Conference record!!

The BCs have just arrived home after driving the 300 or so miles from Greensboro. (Was it ever worth it!) Unfortunately, all the excitement -- and travel -- have left us, well, running on empty. (Plus, tomorrow is a work day.) So that will be it for blogging tonight, but we promise to put up some post-Tournament thoughts and photos early this week.

For now, the BCs just want to say CONGRATULATIONS to all the players, coaches, staff, and everyone else associated with the Team!!! (And a shout out to all the other Maryland fans who poured into Greensboro like a Red Sea, to cheer on our team.)

Maryland . . . 2012 ACC Tournament Champions!! Now that's a great Sunday!

Kim Rodgers provided some crucial scoring and defense in the second half. With Mincy scoring below her average and Hawkins in foul trouble (thanks to some very questionable calls from the trigger-happy refs), the Terps needed scoring. And Rodgers delivered! So nice to see her come through as a senior and win another championship.

As Coach says - 12 strong!! What a great championship game! No quit in Georgia Tech at all!! After seeds one and two were defeated, I as scared the Terps might take things a bit for granted. But they worked hard, stayed poised, other team members stepped up....those of us who couldn't make it down to NC, were cheering here at home!!

Congrats all!!

Really happy for our Terps. So proud...only 12 turnovers the entire game! Kim was the x factor once again--just like back in 2009. Happy for her! Actually all of the seniors really stepped up. As much as Barrett drives me crazy, she really stepped up to the plate and had a good game. Kizer was a beast--really stepped up also.

Very well played game on both sides. Someone had to win and the Terps just played a little better. Better at the free throw line and less turnover and beat them on the boards.

What is the story with the GT coach? She just seems out of control on the bench. TV cameras panned in on her a lot more than our staff but even Brenda on her more vociferous days did not seem to be losing it - especially on ref calls. I know she has a great b ball background but just an observation. Thanks basket cases for all you do! Luv your blog..and terrific writing.

I think Goodlatte is a good post but disagree with many of the foul calls she received. At least on tv, it appeared that Hawkins held her position, was straight in the air, and did not initiate contact--yet she still was called for a foul. Glad to see that the refs didn't determine this game.

Sorry that Sue & I couldn't be sitting in front of you for the three games in Greensboro like we do in Comcast. But, we enjoyed the games on the tube and saw you guys twice during the telecasts. Three great games by our ladies; now just 6 more!
