10-year Season Ticket Holder Celebrations: The New York Liberty.

The New York Liberty - players and staff - boarded a 10-year anniversary
Circle Line cruise around Manhattan Thursday with 300 season-ticket holders who have followed the team since its inception in 1997. Forward Shameka Christon ran out to the observation deck when she saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time. "The New York Liberty got to see the real Lady of Liberty, so that's something we'll never forget," Becky Hammon said. "It was really cool to give something back to our most loyal fans." Note to Sheila J: Mystics' 10-year Season Ticket Holder celebration coming soon. Perhaps the QE2 to London? *wink*

One question: Is Susan O'Malley involved at all with the Mystics anymore? If she is, ten year ticket holders will probably get t-shirts.

I'm a casual fan of the Mystics. Some former co-workers have season tickets and when I worked with them I went to a few games back in 2002. In the Summer, I'm rooting for D.C. United but want the Mystics and the WNBA to do well. D.C. United and Major League Soccer are in the same situation. Year eleven and still trying to attract as many fans as possible.

The Mystics have done a fantastic job over the years marketing. It's been loud every time I've been in MCI Center or watched on TV.

Here's hoping both our teams we root for achieve a lot of success this Summer.

Hi Bill, thanks for your comments. Susan O'Malley, head of Washington Sports (Abe Pollin's group), has not been involved with the Mystics since Abe sold the rest of his interest in the team last year. (The Mystics are now owned entirely by Lincoln Holdings, Ted Leonsis's group, which owns the Caps and has a minority interest in the Wizards.)

I agree with you that 10-year STHs would probably get bupkes if O'Malley were still involved, as Washington Sports pretty much took the STHs for granted.

The Mystics looked great last Saturday; we hope you have a chance to take in some games this summer.

Heck, I'd settle for a cruise on the Dandy.
