Draft Pokey.

Draft Pokey, indeed - great idea!

Not only was Richie on the ticket, but Chasity Melvin was the Mystics photo on the line-up card. And just for the record, Chas had a career high in rebounds tonight.

The Pokey idea did not originate with us.

With all the hoopla about Richie and Crystal and Chas, did anyone notice where Stacey Dales was tonight? Maybe there were too many blond ponytails on the Sky team and she had to stay home? And Coco was crying on the bench during the last quarter. I hope she's not next. She's the only one who was going after rebounds tonight!

I tell you, it's the "Odd Year Curse." The Mystics have really SUCKED each odd numbered year of it's existance.

On Stacey Dales - I don't believe she's made it to the Verizon center since she's been with the Sky.

Chas was on the game 2 ticket.
How about Carolyn Peck as coach!!
Stacey pulled a hammie!

This was my first game of the season.

I'm still scratching my head over our defense in the second half. I thought that we did a great job in the first half, but as soon as the second half started, it just sort of came apart all at once.

I also feel our shot selection seemed to be off, at least compared to teams we've fielded in previous years. Fans around me were saying that they just need to get Richie's system out of their heads before they can move forward.

Overall, I feel bad for them. As they were coming off the floor, they looked like they were really hurting tonight. I hope they can get it turned around soon.

I love to win, but you know what? As long as people are hustling and trying their hardest, I can't complain if we come up short. Sadly, that just hasn't been the case with this team this season. There were some inspired bursts tonight, but in between those bursts, we've go right back to having dead eyes.

Is anyone else surprised that Tree Rollins got the "interim" job ahead of Marynell Meadors? Hasn't she been here longer?

When you have professional players crying on the bench - the team is in a state of disarray. I think Ms. Johnson needs to look at her organization from the top to the bottom and determine if I have the right people in the right places - and the last thing she needs to get involved in - is the players.

I said, “draft Pokey”, too.

Coco was the only one hustled for the ball. The players, including Beard shot the ball and stood there. They started to really play in the last 30 seconds of the 4th quarter of the game. Mystics were and are out of shape. They could play only two quarters (barely).
It is time for the Mystics to focus; “poor shot selection, coach problem, etc.” are poor excuses. Most of the players are veterans compare to Sky and Liberty. Mystics is a ten year old team. Enough is enough. Shape up or ship out, and rebuild the team now.

I feel sorry for Dr. Johnson. She is giving them the best. Games like these

I agree. There are a lot of great baskeball players around that want to play and play hard. If the gals on this team don't want to hustle and win, move on and let somebody else take your place. It's time to shape up or ship out.

Sheila Johnson is the worst. Just keep supplying the $$$ and leave the coaching to the professionals. Things have changed drastically for the worse since she's been around. She manages to insert herself in every half-time show almost. She is so completely full of herself. The whole Mystics experience has gone downhill FAST. And it's not just about all the losses over the past 10 seasons. You can't win them all, but come on!! I feel bad for the players- there really is talent there. Looks like Chas was set free just in time.

And bring back Charm. What's with the clumsy creepy Panda that has zero personality and knocks people over on a regular basis? Charm had personality and was engaging and didn't have to be led around by someone telling him what to do. And enough of the little girls bumping and grinding to that ridiculous music at the breaks. Totally tasteless and uncomfortable to watch.

I'm reading the comments here and I'm frightened. How did things get so bad, so quickly? And the thing is, I've always liked the fact that Dr. Johnson makes herself so available to fans and tries to be there for the players.

Dr Johnson being available to fans is one thing, but has gotten old and "gimmicky"- fans want to see a winning team- win or lose, a team that plays to win.
Oh and I vote Pokey....

If the Mystics were 5-0 instead of 0-5, would you still consider Dr. Johnson's antics "gimmicky?" We're all shocked and disappointed by this. All we can do is ride out the storm and hope they get things turned around soon.

While Pokey is intriguing, doesn't she carry a bit too much baggage, given what happened at LSU?

The players do want to hustle, once they leave for other teams. That says something to me about the management, not the players.

Linda Hargrove is destroying this team.

Actually if the team were 5-0 I would be tired of the "gimmicky " stuff like her dancing during pre-game- I was tired of it last summer.... I love the fact that she's involved and cares about the players and the fans- I really do, but I've never particularly cared for the "fluff"- just provide some decent "in-game" events/contests. "Gimmicks" don't ever make up for what's going on once the ball is jumped.
And re: Pokey- who doesn't have baggage- I don't care about that, I'm sure Pokey can still coach, and that's all I want for my team is a coach who can help them be successful. Period.

Richie was pressured out mostly because he wasn't on board with the Chasity/Monique trade. I have to agree with him- she's very talented but she's not what we need. Sheila liked that Monique was a hometown girl who might bring in fans. Chemistry and a few wins would bring in fans as well, you know. Too bad we gave up one of our best players for her.

I'm for Pokey! The Mystics have talent. The Mystics need a rebounder. GO MYSTICS!

I am all for Pokey, or go find Vicky Bullet. I heard she is coaching in AAU ball. I am always upset when people talk about "baggage" around Pokey. Not that I think it is 100% cool to be accused of an inappropriate relationship with a former player, but remember... all adults here. Seriously. What does that have to do with coaching pro ball anyway?

And remember the draft next year. :) I am never one to say lose it for a draft pick, but it might be good to come out in the bottom three this year.

Yeah, that "tanking" idea really helped the Celtics this past season. Let's just ride out the storm and see what shakes down. Gotta keep the faith, here.

Maybe Stephanie Ready is availabe- Lord knows we should've have kept her on the coaching staff! Oh and Carolyn Peck... how 'bout all 3. Ricie is gone, but the "playbook" is still here, 'cause clearly Crystal was doing a lot of play calling vs the Sky.

At 8:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

... by all 3 I meant Pokey, Carolyn and Stephanie!
