Mo: Hey, Candace, it's done --I'm Going Home!

The Trade is Official!!! The Mystics have just announced that Chasity Melvin has been traded to the Chicago Sky for DC native Monique Currie -- a former Duke teammate of none other than Alana Beard! Wow!

Does that mean they have cap space to sign Vogel?

Good question. However, our guess is that IF the Mystics have extra cap space, getting another post player could be a higher priority.

If we learn any more, we'll be sure to share the information.

Hmmm. I don't know what to think about this. I like Currie and Chas was horribly inconsistent.

But aren't we pretty set at the guard position? Did we free up cap room to sign another post player? Who is out there?

kch,

Mo is actually a guard-forward, she's comfortable playing the 3. We're guessing that'll be her slot on the Mystics roster. Seems like a good fit. The big question is whether we can get some additional help in the post.

I think they should get Vogel. She writes a great blog and is a very tallented basketball player.

Well, if writing a great blog helps you win a spot on the Mystics roster, then the BasketCases are ready to suit up! LOL.

It was said that the Mystics had their core players returning with the same coach, which is new for us. But other teams made moves to improve. And maybe we have too! We'll see. And I agree we should hang in with the team - it's early.

WOW!!! I'm shocked, but pleased. We have gotten nothing form the #3 spot this year - except when Alana is playing there. Still, we are light on centers right now.

Sandford has shown flashes of greatness, but she inconsistent and prone to foul trouble. Goring has a couple of questionable knees (not to mention she's unproven). With James, C-Rob and now Mo at the #3, we need to look at trading one of the to former and beefing up the low post.

Not sure why everyone is so hot for Vogel when she didn't look good at all during preseason. Sweet kid that writes a very nice blog - but the Mystics need to win now in a big way. The internship will do Vogel good. Besides, I believe the league rules are that the Mystics would have to wait 30 days before resigning a waived player. Can't help but believe there's another shoe to drop.

Vogel is an outstanding player. She might not have done her best in the preseason, but give her a chance and she'll show you what she can do. She will work her heart out for a team and truly believes in team ball. She is the nicest young lady you would ever want to meet and is a role model for every young basketball player around.

I have followed Chasity Melvin since she played at NC State - she's one of my favorite players. Plays hard and determined. Big loss for the Mystics in my opinion. One of the reasons I was a Mystics fan and got season tickets.
