Breaking News Re Sunday's Game! Okay folks, it doesn't get much better than this. Where do the Venn diagrams of the BasketCases' two favorites basketball teams intersect? Why, with Vicky Bullett of course!! Vicky was a huge star at Maryland (class of '89) -- among other things, she's the Terps' all-time leading scorer -- who thankfully was so skilled and took such great care of her body that she was able to play in the WNBA a decade later, including three seasons with, yes, you guessed it, the Washington Mystics. And the Mystics, being the smart marketers that they are, know full well that nearly 18,000 (!!) women's basketball fans will be at the sold-out (!!) Comcast Center this Sunday evening to see the Terps take on the Tar Heels. So with the generous cooperation of Maryland, the Mystics will have a table on the Concourse at Comcast throughout the game on Sunday, AND, are you ready..... VICKY BULLETT will be at the table signing autographs before the game. Need we say more???? (Of course, if you were so foolish as to not have snagged a ticket long before now, well, as they say in Latvia, you are up the Dubna without a paddle.)

Saturday Morning Update: The Baltimore Sun looks at the Terps' fabulous, conference-leading, and still-growing attendance numbers, including the two upcoming sell-outs, but wonders, as we all do, why the students still aren't showing up. The virtually empty student section at Comcast (there are several rows of wonderful, loud, rabid and ribald student fans at every game) hasn't been overlooked by the campus paper, either, which in an editorial on Friday urged the student body to start supporting the women's team.

Isn't this great! Vicki is one of 3 honorary game captains to be presented before the tip-off on Sunday. Kelly Gibson and Sharma Wright are also being honored. Since this Sunday is Breast Health Awarness Day, The Terrapin Club asked Sharma to represent as she is a survivor and MD Basketball Alum. It will be fantastic to see this pre-game intro. Everyone come early due to a very large sellout crowd and we don't want to miss any of this day.
GO TERPS-BEAT the Tarheels

I've been trying to think of the best way to say this but, I can only think of one and that’s straight up. At every one of these record setting games, a large student crowd has come to the Comcast Center and the team has lost. This is a very sad fact but, true. I think the students have to be shown that their time is worth a trip to see at least a well played women's basketball game. What will bring the students back again and again? It's pretty simple. A win against the Tarhills this Sunday will definitely start the ball rolling in the right direction. Then, a win over Duke will show the students that the Ladies can hang with any team in the country and maybe more students will become loyal followers. Can the women play a good game in front of their home crowd? Women's Basketball has come a long way in recent years but, it still has a long way to go. Win the big games and the students will come back. That may sound pretty simple but, that’s my opinion and I'm sticking to it till proven wrong.
