M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D Will Win. Sportswriter Kathy Orton in today's article Special to The Washington Post tells us that before yesterday's game, it had been more than 12 years since Maryland and GW met in Women's Basketball.
[Coach Brenda] Frese said that she waited to play the Colonials, perennially one of the top teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference, until she had a team that could match up with them. "We felt in our first couple years that we wanted to get a team that was going to be competitive, to be honest," Frese said. "I think it's great when we play all the teams in the area."
What Coach B meant (according to the BasketCases): We didn't want to play any local team until we were certain we could beat them! Losing to a local team sure could hurt recruiting!
