The Thundering Herd (isn't that just the BEST team nickname you've ever herd heard?) turned out in force last night at Marshall University; but the Herd wasn't strong or fast enough to overcome the Mighty Turtle. Despite shooting a paltry 37.5%, the Maryland Terrapins outpaced the Marshall Herd by a score of 68-49 before an excited crowd of 4,153 (mostly) Marshall fans. Crystal Langhorne led all scorers with 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds as she recorded yet another double-double.

Marshall Coach Royce Chadwick was "thrilled" that fans turned out in such numbers to see two women's teams battle on the hardwood. In the Herald-Dispatch, Coach Chadwick had this to say:

"I'm thrilled. Honestly, this is the first time in my tenure here that the game stood by itself," he said. "There was no half-court shot to win a car. There wasn't a guest coach. They came to watch the teams play."
What's this about a car!!!?? They give cars away at Marshall games? Whoa!!! And here the BasketCases thought getting a free t-shirt or a big foam finger was pretty cool . . . little did we know!

The Terps return home to Comcast this Saturday for a 7:00 PM game against the Gauchos from the University of California-Santa Barbara.
